The picturesque market town of Keswick has plenty of things to do throughout the year, no matter what the weather.
Things to do in Keswick Indoors
Given how the recent storm Dennis and storm Ciara have affected holiday plans up and down the country, rainy day plans are always needed. That’s not to say our ideas for thing to do in Keswick indoors are only for when it’s wet!
In fact, some of the best things to do in Keswick are indoors already. Such as the Keswick Museum and Art Gallery or the fun and quirky “Puzzling Place”.
Then there’s one of the more unusual museums of the Lake District, the Derwent Pencil Museum. It’s one of the most popular places to visit in Keswick, featuring the world’s largest pencil. Although the museum does also cover the history of graphite mining, for an insight into working in Cumbria.
If you’re not the designated driver, then sample local ales at the Keswick Brewery as part of a tour learning about the brewing process. Alternatively, there are plenty of small pubs where you enjoy a drink along your travels. As well, of course, restaurants and cafés catering for lunch or dinner.
In the evening, Theatre by the Lake offers exactly that, with stage productions taking place undercover on the shores of Derwentwater. It’s one of the most established theatres in Cumbria, so worth booking tickets in advance.
