If you’re meeting friends or family with children, then the World of Beatrix Potter promises Santa’s “Best Ever Christmas”. Although fear not, as the man of the moment will no doubt make an appearance across the region elsewhere throughout the month.
As for something a little more grown-up, there’s a touch of sophistication at Brockhole and Muncaster Castle. Whereby you can combine learning a new craft or visiting the magnificent private home, combined with a Christmas inspired afternoon tea.

As for the markets, there’s a whole host available throughout the end of the year. Featuring everywhere from the Keswick Victorious Fayre to the Carlisle Market or the more localised Windermere Christmas.
Meanwhile, for foodies, the Taste Cumbria event in Cockermouth takes on its annual festive flavours again this year. Although, as always, we’d also recommend booking a table at the many nearby bars and restaurants. After all, even while you’re being well-behaved, you can still wine and dine in style!
If it’s the tail end of the year you’re planning to book some time away, be prepared for some spectacular New Years Eve fireworks. We will no doubt advise the best NYE parties nearer the time, but rest assured no one does it better than the Lake District. Even if we do say so ourselves…
